Akwasa Assemblyman wants drainage works along Old Barrier-Shopping Mall completed

This problem according to Yaw Atampuri, the Assemblyman for the Akwasa Electoral Area in the Ga South Municipality, where the main road is overtaken by sand and sometimes floods is due to poor drainage system along the road.
Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, the Assemblyman said the Ghana Highways Authority is aware of the problem and has initiated measures to address it with the construction of bigger and stronger drainage systems that can accommodate high volumes of running water.
Unfortunately, the project has been abandoned soon after it took off worsening the plight of people living around the area as well as motorists and dashing their hopes of early relief.
At the Hillside, a couple of metres from the Kasoa tollbooth, flooding and loads of silt had gradually led to the destruction of part of the road. It's near impossible to ply that route with heavy rainfall. It takes some selected cars that are heavy and high enough to slowly meander their way through the flood when it rains.
The Assemblyman said he has on several occasions brought it to the attention of the Ghana Highway Authority; who are not oblivious of the situation but just to remind them of the discomfort they face as residents for an early solution.
He has thus appealed to the Authority, and for that matter Government to move in quickly to rectify the problem.
