The United Nations (UN) General Assembly through its resolution sets 30th of July every year for the world to celebrate a day against human trafficking (Blue Day), to create awareness of the dangers in human trafficking and the need to protect victims against the practice.

Last year, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO), Justice Mission in collaboration with armed police officers raided the waters and surrounding the Dwarf Island and took away children from their families who were on the lake travelling, accompanying their parents, brothers to fish and other economic reasons.

This development did not go down well with the lawmaker for the area, and a statement was made in this regard on the floor of Parliament by her dubbed, “the abuse of the right of our children under the misconception of rescuing them from child labour/child trafficking”.

Through the effort of Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, all the state actors this year, 18th of August gathered at Bridge Ano in the Kwahu Afram Plains District, to put their efforts together to educate and help curb the practice on the theme: “Together we end human trafficking now, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through collaborative efforts”.
