The former Member of Parliament speaking at the Ningo Prampram District Assembly’s 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 2nd Session of the 3rd Assembly Shared some of his experiences from his days as a Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency for 20 years.

He stated that things go contrary to expectations when planning goes ahead of development instead of the other way round so there is the need for governments to plan development infrastructure ahead of the citizens in order to have well planned cities.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Jonathan Teye Doku outlined many plans conceive for the district going forward adding that the construction of infrastructure on health, schools, markets and sanitation are all in the effort to make the District better.

The Assembly therefore deliberated on the Planned City Extension Project, a private led project which is a One District One Factory (1D1F) project to enhance the quality of living through the acquisition of affordable housing by lower and middle income groups with adequate infrastructure and services.

The Project Coordinator, Mr. David Aidoo explained that the project has to do with the construction of 2 and 3 bedroom apartments which will be on a rent to own basis where an initial deposit of 3,000 Ghana Cedis will be made and remaining payments made up to a maximum of 25yrs. He revealed that site clearing is on-going for the commencement of the project.

Addressing the water challenges within the district, the District Distribution Officer, Mr. Ebo Anaafi Bediako indicated that lots of extensions have broken down and the water pressure is low so water cannot get to remote areas. He then expressed a major concern about buildings on water lines especially in Ningo, noting that it was a contributing factor to the water challenges in the area.
