Making a statement when members of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) called on him at his office on Friday, May 13, 2022 before a start of their two days capacity building workshop organised by the Parliament of Ghana, he was confident the visit by the press corps to Ningo-Prampram would market and open it up to the rest of the world.
“I hope after the exercise some of you would want to be residence here and due to governments intervention the population in five years’ time would shot up to five hundred thousand. There are estates around and industrial expansion taking place”, he said.
He further noted that those who would take the lead to settle at Ningo-Prampram would champion their cause and in doing that would lead to reducing poverty.
As to whether issues of tidal waves are a problem in the district, he noted that because of the sea defence it is not a problem. However on sand winning in the area, he noted that discussions are ongoing indicating that some family heads have vested interest in it and the lands are vested in the family heads.
When questioned on what is being done to address the traffic situation particularly on the Tema -Aflao stretch of the road, he noted that government has already started works to ensure that ten lane roads are constructed coming in five and going out five on the main Tema Aflao stretch.
“We don’t need Ningo-Prampram constituency to be split into two now, the population is two hundred and forty-six thousand, it is now before the population is expanding and at our level now we are a Municipality and your revenue collection would give you that status”.
On revenue, he said they are witnessing improvement following some pragmatic measures they have put in place since he assumed office.
