Ningo-Prampram Distributes Livelihood Support to 132 Persons with Disabilities

The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly has distributed livelihood support items to 132 persons with disabilities across all 22 electoral areas in the district as part of efforts to promote economic empowerment and improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups.

The exercise, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Raphael Uriel Nartey , brought together the Presiding Member of the District Assembly, Assembly Members, officials from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, and staff of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly.

Beneficiaries, comprising persons with physical disabilities, the visually impaired, the hearing impaired and other eligible persons, received cash and a variety of equipment tailored to support their businesses and economic activities.

The items included deep freezers, refrigerators, polytanks, tile-cutting machines, plastic chairs and tables, automatic grass-cutting machines, sacks of charcoal, cement, laptops, ovens and other essential working tools.

According to the organisers, the intervention is aimed at enabling beneficiaries to establish or expand sustainable livelihoods, become economically self-reliant and improve their overall well-being.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Nartey urged them to make effective use of the items provided and utilise them for the intended purposes.

He cautioned beneficiaries against selling the equipment, stressing that the support was intended to help them build sustainable sources of income and improve their economic circumstances.

Mr. Nartey described the exercise as the largest livelihood support distribution undertaken in the history of the Ningo-Prampram District since the programme was introduced.

He said the development demonstrated the Government of Ghana's commitment to social inclusion, economic empowerment and ensuring that vulnerable groups are not left behind in the country's development efforts.

He expressed optimism that the beneficiaries would use the support responsibly to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.
