N JUABEN S: MCE visits new entrants in schools
The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi has noted with great concern about the rate at which some citizenry of Koforidua turn most public schools as thoroughfare.

He said this situation does not auger well with us as a country; it rather disrupts classes and other school activities.
This came to light when the Municipal Chief Executive visited ten schools as part of my first day at school to familiarize himself with the new entrants in the various schools. In every school, the MCE presented assorted learning materials like uniforms, pencils, erasers and also drinks and biscuits to the pupils.
Among some of the schools visited were, Ada Kyeremanteng M/A, Adweso Mile 50 M/A, Apimpoa Islamic, Nana Kwaku Boateng and Ellen Whyte SDA basic schools. Others are Nyamekrom M/A, Simpoamiensa M/A, Freeman Methodist and Nsukwao M/A basic schools.
In an interaction with the pupils, the MCE said government is ready to make education accessible to all and for that matter parents and guardians should also play their part to make education attractive. He encouraged the pupils to stick to their books to enable them aspire higher in life.
He further cautioned the pupil to guard against any act that will hamper the progress of their lives.
He said education is the bedrock of every nation and as a result, there is the need for us to invest more in our children.
The head teacher of Adweso Mile 50 M/A basic school, Jonathan Amanor expressed his greatest appreciation to the MCE and his entourage. He said the gesture will go a long way to boost the morale of the pupils in terms of education.
He mentioned parental irresponsibility in the area of purchasing books for their wards. Lack of portable water and fence walls are some of the major challenges facing the school.
Mr. Amanor quickly appealed to the stakeholders in education to help fence the school to avoid disruptions on school premises.
At the Freeman Methodist basic school, the Head Teacher; Madam Bernice Kaki Caesar also reiterated the school being opened to thorough fair. She added that as a result of that people disrupt classes and engage in open defecation.
According to her, the school lacks security and it is being attracted to almost all social vices. This she called for quick intervention.
