“We are seeking to establish a relationship that works and so we will set for ourselves a working plan to ensure that this doesn’t become one of the failed Sister Cities around the world”, the soft-spoken DCE added.
He stressed on the Assembly’s readiness to share and learn from the Jersey City Council, saying “where we have to copy, we will do so with precision and tailor it to our local needs”.
He commended the Jersey City Municipal Council President-Roland R. Lavarro Jr. for his commitment, hard work and determination to ensuring development and better conditions of living for the people of Jersey City, adding that the recent level of development further motivated the Gomoa West district to enter into the agreement.
“I was particularly attracted by the rate of growth in Jersey City and the dynamism of your Mayor Steven Michael Fulop who had worked to create 1000 summer jobs to get kids out of trouble, established 3 new schools, created new parks and playgrounds, and who had ensured recruitment of 250 new police officers”, he stated.
He was optimistic that the exercise will also bring the USA and Ghana further closer to an already established relationship between our two countries.
