Gbitugbi is a community in the Kwahu Afram Plains, leading to the Volta Lake that one needs to cross in other to have access to the Dwarf Island, which has been in the news with issues relating to child labour, trafficking and arrest by the security agencies last year.

According to Nana Anani Gyansi the people of Gbitugbi are Ghanaians and government needs to give them the needed attention to have access to mobile phone network.

He made this remarks when Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North, Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah in collaboration with the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry and the Assembly organised a day’s durbar, to sensitize the community against child labour and trafficking.

He further added that the traditional leaders would play their respective role to help curb the menace and added that the family heads who would be caught, engaging in child labour and trafficking would be punished when it comes before the chiefs.

This year’s World Day against human trafficking (Blue Day), in Ghana was celebrated at Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Saturday 18th August 2018, at Bridge Ano.
