Savelugu holds Meet the Press series

‘’ popular participation by citizens is vital for the strengthening of good governance as it offers political leaders the benefit of hindsight to realign their intentions, policies and programs to reflect the needs, preferences and aspirations of the citizens." These were the words of Hajia Ayisheitu Seidu, Municipal Chief Executive at the meet the press program in Savelugu.

Using evidence-based reporting style in Communicating government policy decisions to the audience, the MCE touched extensively on a number of flagship programs and projects and their respective levels of implementation across the municipality.

Prominence among them included; the free senior high school policy, one million dollars per constituency, 1V1D, 1D1F, employment creation, planting for food and jobs, infrastructure for poverty eradication program among others.



On the free SHS policy, for example, the MCE was happy to announce massive but vigorous infrastructural expansion works that are at various levels of completion to contain the ever-increasing enrolment figures at the SHS. Upon completion of the dormitory and classroom blocks, the stopgap measure of the much talked about double track will be a thing of the past.

Some wanted to know what the assembly was doing to ensure timely completion of a number of on-going development projects benefiting their respective communities across the municipality.

Others were full of compliments and show of gratitude for how far they have benefited from the interventions and so on.



Conclusively, yet another special mention was made about the upcoming District Level Elections, DLEs and the referendum slated for 17th December this year. Participants and the general public were encouraged to turn out in their numbers in exercising their civic responsibility on the scheduled date.
