PRESTEA: Training on new curriculum ended

As means of shifting the structure and content of education system from merely passing examination to building character, nurturing values and raising literate, confident and engaged pupils who can think critically, the Ghana Education Service of the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality has organized a five-day comprehensive training for teachers within the Municipality on the new curriculum for kindergarten and primary school pupils.

The training started on Tuesday 13th August and ended successfully on Saturday 17th August, 2019.

The teachers were grouped into three categories. The first category was at Bogoso in the St. Augustine’s Senior High School where teachers from Nsu, Awodua and Bogoso circuit gathered. The second category was at the Prestea Secondary Technical School also had teachers from Prestea A and Prestea B circuits. Finally teachers from Huni-Valley and Aboso circuit went to Huni-Valley Secondary School at Huni-Valley.



The training being the first face had all trained teachers within the Municipality. The second face which will be carried out later will also consider complementary teachers such as NABCO Personnel, Untrained Teachers and community teachers. Even though the training was not residential, the Prestea Huni-Valley Educational Directorate managed to get accommodation for teachers from afar.



In her closing remarks the Municipal Education Director Madam Mary Vida Kwofie thanked the teachers for coming in their numbers and for comporting themselves throughout the section. She however appealed to them to apply whatever they have learnt in their various classrooms to ensure the success of the programme.
