She said one of the major challenges facing the sector is overcrowding in the schools, indicating that the enrollment figures in most of the classrooms is too high and needed to be decongested.

The Education Director, who was speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for three educational projects by the Member of Parliament for the area, said she is overwhelmed by the commitment shown by the MP in the education sector.

She said the MP's quest of improving infrastructure in the schools is highly commendable as it will augment government's efforts.
"Coming to this municipality, I was told some schools have sixteen teachers, but I only got to understand the situation after assessing the real problems. I realized that two schools have been combined which requires that two teachers cater for them”.

She raised concerns over health concerns of overcrowding to the students and teachers. “This is a positive beginning and when we have more, it will help bring improvement in many ways"

The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwesi Acquah on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 cut the sod for three educational projects in the Constituency.

They include a 6-unit classroom blocks at Presby Primary A and C; 10-seater water closet toilet facility at Presby cluster of Schools; and an ICT laboratory at St. Luke Roman Catholic School at Camp.

The Presby Cluster of School has no toilet facility forcing teachers and students to go through a great deal of ordeal when they want to obey nature's call.

The headteacher and staff expressed delight at the commencement of the toilet project which the MP promised would be completed within 3months.
