Ministry of Local Gov’t engages Assemblies on services delivery
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD), has organized a two-day mid-term review workshop on the Ghana Secondary Cities Programme (GSCSP) in the Eastern Region.

The workshop assessed the implementation of the GSCSP in the remaining year to improve the living conditions of the population in the urban areas.
GSCSP is being implemented in 25 selected Municipal Assemblies across the country and started in 2019.
The programme helped urban development management and services delivery in the 25 participating Assemblies. It succeeded the erstwhile Local Government Capacity Support Project (LGCSP).
GSCSP is divided into two components which include capacity building and physical projects such as roads, markets, and drainage systems.
Some of the beneficial Municipal Assemblies include Ho, Hohoe, Asokwa, Old Tafo, Obuasi, Berekum East, West Mamprusi. Others are Dormaa , Suame, Techiman, Agona West, Efiakwasimitsim, Agona West, Wa, Birim Central, Suame, Bolga.
Participants discussed environmental and social safeguard; compliance audit report; procurement and value for money audit report; and experiences and lessons learnt from GSCSP implementation.
