Kwahu South Assembly Members undergo orientation workshop

Newly elected and appointed Assembly Members in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region have undergone a two-day orientation workshop on the District Assembly concept.

The workshop was aimed to among other things;
• Expose participants to the changing environment of local governance, challenges, opportunities and expected roles.
• Equip participants with knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes necessary for effective leadership;
• Provide a platform for participants to build networks and share experiences relevant for personal and professional support among others.



Addressing the participants, the Kwahu South District Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo said the design of the local governance structure places the Assembly Member position as the interface between the Assembly and the local people.

He implies that Assembly Members must have appropriate levels of knowledge, skills, and attitude to enable them to exercise their mandate in a responsive manner.



District Chief Executive, Ofori Atta Junior encouraged the Assembly Members to take advantage of the two days’ workshop and ask all the questions they needed clarity on.
