The Central Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, on Wednesday inaugurated projects in four communities in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.

The Central Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, on Wednesday inaugurated projects in four communities in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.

They are a two six-unit GETFund classroom blocks with a library, washrooms and two Polytank water storage containers each at Twifo Hasowodze and Twifo Kyeaboso, a Ministry of Health Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Twifo Denyase and a three-bedroom District Assembly staff quarters.

Dr. Sarpong said the facilities signified the government’s commitment to ensuring that the smaller towns were part of the government’s “Better Ghana” agenda.

He raised concern about the large number of people engaged in illegal mining which was creating death traps in the area and appealed to parents to send their children to school instead of engaging them on their cocoa farms and in the markets.

The Minister reiterated government’s commitment in ensuring accessible health care for every Ghanaian and that the construction of CHPS compounds in communities across the country, adding that plans were underway for the construction of 50 more CHPS compounds in the Central Region.

He appealed to the District Assembly to involve chiefs in planning and decision making to ensure easy governance.

The Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr. Samuel Ato Amoah, said the ongoing electrification project in the constituency showed how committed the government was in improving the lives of the people.

He promised to donate five computers to the Twifo Kyeaboso D/A Basic School and would provide assistance for the smooth running of the CHPS compound.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr. Bossman Osei Hemang, added his voice to calls on the people to make their children’s education a priority and also cooperate with the only nurse at the CHPS Compound for her to give them the best of health care services.

The District Director of Education, Ms. Enyonam Afi Amofugah, expressed gratitude to the government for the classroom blocks which she said would help improve teaching and learning in the district.

She appealed to the Government to hasten the construction of a teachers’ bungalow being constructed at Denyase and also build more to attract teachers to the district.

The District Director of Health, Dr. John Benjamin Annan, expressed gratitude to the government for the CHPS Compound as it would ensure easy access to health care and help reduce maternal deaths which were a big challenge in the communities.

The Paramount Chief of Twifo Atti-Morkwa Traditional Area, Oseadieyo Kwesi Kennin IV, expressed gratitude for all the projects and appealed to the Minister to ensure that all the projects and promises he made were fulfilled.
