Eighty-four thousand Ghana cedis as internally generated fund was just enough for the Ekumfi District Assembly in the central region to pat itself on the back for being on the right path to tackling its development challenges.

By November 2013, the assembly managed to exceed its own target of GHs50, 000.00 by GHs34,000.00 interestingly, this is a newly created district with very few economic infrastructure at its disposal having lost most of the major market centres and other economic facilities to its mother district.

District Chief executive for the area, I.K Dawson is confident the assembly would improve significantly this year with the right approach. According to him, he had to intensify education to enable residents pay taxes and levies due the assembly.

He also noted that other measures are also being explored to enhance the finances of the assembly to be able to respond to the needs of the various communities. Among them he noted would be to establish more viable market centres and intensify collecting property rates and other levies while making stringent moves to block revenue leakages.
