A new appointment has been made for the vacant District Chief Executive position for the South Tongu District Assemble.

Mr. Samuel Eworyi’s, appointment by President John Mahama in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 1993, Act 462 means  the district is a step away from getting a DCE subject to approval by the assembly.

When approved, he would replace Mr. Daniel Amelorku who was relieved of his post in July this year. And since then the assembly has been without a substantive head.

Mr. Samuel Eworyi’s fate will now be determined by the assembly members through voting to endorse him by two-third majority. This is usually the worry of most appointees since the appointment alone is not enough to secure the position.
