A directive from the Local Government and Rural Development Minister , Akwasi Oppong Ofosu has asked the DCE for South Tongu, Daniel K. Amelorku  to hand over to the Regional Minister with immediate effect and vacate his post.

Mr Daniel Amelorku was mentioned in a list of 33 other Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who have not been re-nominated by the President.

Five other  MMDCEs affected in the Volta Region included Nana Kumesy Bonsy - Jasikan; Seth Frank Alifui - kadjebi; Alhaji Buboy Dzinadu - Central Tongu; Bernard F. Amable - Ketu Municipal; and Isaac Kodobisah - Ho Municipal.

Mr. Amelorku was appointed by the late President Mills in 2009 and served in that capacity as the district chief Executive until this mew directive.
