Chief Executive of the Akyemansah District in the Eastern Region, Tom Budu has moved a step closer to securing a second term in office following his reappointment by the president for consideration.

The President in exercising his powers in line with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 of the Local Government Act, Act 462, 1993, named Mr. Tom Budu along side 15 other incumbent Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCEs) to be considered for approval by their respective assembly members.

It should be recalled that, prior to his name been mentioned, some youth group from the district who identified themselves as members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) kicked against the possible re-nomination of  Mr. Tom Budu, citing lack of development during the last four years of his administration.

They also threatened to lock the Akyemansa assembly offices and chase the DCE out of the town if President John Mahama ignores their plea and retain him.

However, it appears the DCE has some how smoked the peace pipe with the group as his re-nomination has not witnessed any agitation so far.
