Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith has admonished students of Ayirebi Senior High School to take their studies serious to be meaningful contributors to national development.

He said government has placed priority on education and have constructed so many school infrastructure in the last 3 years with the Eastern Region alone eating about 563 as at December last year. “Government has provided the infrastructure and your role as students is to attend school and study hard”.

The minister made the call when he visited the school and interacted with students, teachers, chiefs and people of the community.

Mr. Victor Smith also inspected 2 on-going projects in the school including a 1 storey multipurpose science Labouratory and a 6 unit classroom block.

He however expressed dismay on a project which started in 2008 was still under construction. This however compelled him caution contractors who engage in deliberate delay in their construction under his watch that their companies will be blacklisted and will not benefit from new constructs again.

He therefore directed the constructor to speed-up work and complete by November.

Meanwhile the chief of Ayirebi, Obrempong Gyabire Agyekum has made a passionate appeal to government to provide them with a district hospital with nurses and doctors quarters to help accommodate more health workers to meet the needs of the people.

He further called for the construction of bungalows, teachers’ quarters and more importantly improvement in the road network which of Corse is in a very deplorable state. The minister however assured the community of a surprise on their road as work is scheduled to commence very soon.
