The three and half years of the Professor Mills led administration has seen 18 schools which were originally under trees eliminated and replaced with modern concrete structures.

The achievement is in line with government policy to replace the over 4000 schools under trees across the country to promote quality education in Ghana. 

To make the policy effective, government mandated the Ghana Education Trust Fund under the Ministry of education as the implementation agency and the Akyemansa District in the Eastern Region has been a major benefactor of this policy so far.

Some of the beneficiary schools or communities include Adwafo, Ayirebi DA JHS, Ayirebi Primary, Etwereso, Akyem-Ofoase Islamic, Otwereso Methodist, Adjobue DA, Etwereso Camp, Krania Islamic and Akyem-Anyinase RC.
The rest are Boso-Villa, Gyaha, Ayinase Islamic, Gyewani DA, Ayeboafo, Kwaboadi No2, Betenaseamong a host of others.

Chief Executive of the District, Tom Budu who made the revelation at a durbar of chiefs and people of the town to welcome the Eastern Regional Minister on a working visit to the district to familiarize himself with developments in the district said there are efforts for more to be constructed until all schools have descent structure.

According to him, the assembly is also not sitting idle waiting for government to school solve all the educational problems but has also taken the initiative and rehabilitated 8 old schools.

It is also a known fact that most schools are faced with furniture constraints, a situation that compelled most pupils to carry their own tables or chairs from the house to school. To address this constraint, the assembly with support from the education Ministry constructed and distributed over 1080 mono and dual desks have been distributed to schools in the district.

The government free exercise book policy also resulted in the distribution of 107,833 exercise books.

The initial 8 schools benefiting from the Ghana School Feeding Programme has also been increased to 19 with the addition of 11 as a result of the expansion of the programme by the government to meet more deprived schools.
