Mr Kennedy Kemevor, the Deputy Coordinating Director of Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly, has reiterated government’s commitment to support cultural activities to help build the youth of the country.

He said a nation or tribe without a culture was doomed and could only follow the direction of the wind.

Mr. Kemevor made the remarks during regional cultural festival held at Nadowli over the weekend.

The festival which was organised by the Ghana Education Service was on the theme: “Our culture, our pride and our identity”.

All the 11 districts in the region participated in the festival which was to help the region select a team for representation at the national cultural festival.

Jirapa District would be representing the Upper West Region at the 13th national basic schools cultural festival to be held in September.

Mr Iddrisu Mahama, the Regional Director of Education, said students were taught cultural studies in schools to complement what they gained from the society.

He called on stake holders to promote cultural studies as it could help mould the lives and behaviours of children entrusted to them.
