In order to rid the Nadowli District and the surrounding environs of filth, the Vodafone Ghana is partnering Honesty Youth Organisation (HYO) to undertake a sanitation project in Kaleo.

The programme code-named “Environmental and Personal Cleanliness” is an eight-week sanitation project among fifty other Vodafone World of Difference projects being undertaken simultaneously across the country by volunteers with sponsorship from the Vodafone Ghana Foundation.

Addressing members of the community after a vigorous communal clean up exercise, Mr. Ishmael ofosu Yeboah, a Vodafone World of Difference Volunteer appealed to the Nadowli District Assembly to provide the area with more garbage bins to prevent the indiscriminate littering of the environment.

He said considering the high culture of littering by inhabitants of the area, it is appalling for the 6,500 population to manage just one communal rubbish container.

In the light of the implementation of the project, the volunteers also visited all the schools in Kaleo to sensitize the students on how to keep personal hygiene, especially the adolescent girls.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HYO, Mr. Mohammed Ishau Abdul called on the community members to sustain the clean up exercise as it had the potential of reducing sanitation related diseases among the people.
