NABDAM: New dam construction at Kugri moves steadily-DCE

The Nabdam district assembly has initiated the construction of a dam facility at Kugri aimed at improving agric related activities for inhabitants of the community.

The Nabdam district assembly has initiated the construction of a dam facility at Kugri aimed at improving agric related activities for inhabitants of the community.

This is captured under the Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP) and forms part of the social interventions being implemented by the assembly to bring socio-economic relief to the people.

District Chief Executive for the area, Vivian Anafo said the facility was necessary as the community folks will benefit massively from the dam construction. She mentioned that the implementation of dam projects is being used off-late to suffice the needs of residents in water issues.

Meanwhile, the assembly is also undertaking some tree planting exercise to generally boost the quality of the environment. Madam Anafo indicated that the project was ongoing at Nkuzesi, and was also being carried out under GSOP.

She claimed the trees were also intended to serve as wind breaks to mitigate the extent of disaster in the event of rainstorm in the area.
