As part of efforts to curb armed robbery and other criminal activities in the Bia District of the Western Region, the police have stepped up night patrols and monitoring activities.

The District Chief Executive for Bia, Tweneboah Koduah who disclosed this to Times at Debiso said the Assembly had provided the police with vehicles to enhance their operations.

Mr. Koduah hoped that the measures would ensure peace and security, to allow the people to go about their daily activities without fear.

He indicated that the police administration had posted more personnel to beef up security in the district and was confident that crime would reduce drastically.

Also, the Assembly has provided streetlights at vantage points in the district capital as well as other communities, to enhance visibility at night.

He appealed to the government to rehabilitate the 85-Kilometre Benehema Junction-Debis-Osei Kojokrom road, to facilitate the carting of cocoa and other farm produce locked up in the Area, to buying and marketing centres.

According to the DCE, the Assembly’s priority was to improve educational standards in the area through teacher monitoring and the intensification of supervision by the District Directorate of Education.
