The Children's ward funded by NGGL is one of the social interventions of the company for the people living in areas where it operates to ensure that they live in healthy and better conditions.
According to the DCE, Honourable Anthony Adjei Mensah, the construction of the district hospital began last year (2018) and so far 68 bed capacity ward is completed with theatre plus maternity.
He explained that aside these, the district will construct a storey building for doctors and other health workers who would be stationed at the district.
He confirmed that for the district to have its own hospital is a major relief to him and the people because currently only health centres are seen in the district due to Saint Elizabeth Hospital now located at Hwidiem the capital of Asutifi South District since the district was divided into two.
Mr. Mensah added, it is a challenge to the people to always be referred to either Sunyani (capital of Bono) or Saint Elizabeth Hospital (Asutifi South) in case of major cases so once his district gets hospital it will go a long way to help the residents.
He again said, one major thing which pushed the district to get hospital is the fast population growth. To him, the population growth keeps on increasing so having a district hospital at Kenyasi the capital sounds right.
He revealed that now that NGGL is building the children's ward, it is the duty of the assembly to build walkways to link all facilities to ensure that movement within the hospital is on point.
Mr. Anthony Mensah, assured that by the end of this year (2019), the Asutifi North District Hospital will be completed, commissioned and ready to be used.
The District Health Director, Nyarko Foster, promised to get the best of health workers to work for the people once the hospital is completed and commissioned to ensure better health conditions for them.
Earlier on, NGGL presented drugs and health gadgets worth of millions of cedis to the district health directorate to boost the health conditions of the people.
Present at both the sod cutting for the construction of children's ward and the presentation of drugs and health gadgets were DCE, Executives of NGGL, Chiefs of Kenyasi, Executives of District Health Directorate, Departmental Heads, Assembly members and the public.
