Tano S. holds stakeholder orientation on guidelines for the preparation of 2026 – 2029 MTDP

The Tano South Municipal Assembly has organized a planning session to orient stakeholders on the new guidelines for preparing the Medium Term Development Plan (2026-2029) and to constitute and inaugurate the Municipal Plan Preparation Committee.

The event brought together key participants, including the Regional Economic Planning Officer (REPO), the Regional Luspa Director(LUSPA-DIR), the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE), the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), heads of units and departments, representatives from institutions and agencies, as well as chairpersons within the Tano South Municipality.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Augutine Peprah commended participants for attending the planning session and gave a brief background of the Country’s democracy linking it with the National Development Policy framework.

He explained that the National Development Planning Commission circulated guidelines for the preparation of Medium Term Development Plans after the termination of the existing plan giving room for the preparation of a new plan.

He mentioned that it guarantees continuity of development even in the face of change of government ensuring all programmes and projects of previous governments are infused into the new plan.

Mr. Peprah, appealed for concerted effort in the preparation of the MTDP (2026-2029) in order to meet the deadline for approval by the General Assembly and National Development Planning Commission as well as certification by the Commission.

He commended the participatory approach adopted for the exercise, noting that the representation of all key stakeholders demonstrated their commitment to the plan’s preparation.

He emphasized that it is incumbent on the Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit to carry out an effective Community/Stakeholder engagements to ensure their needs are captured hence the meeting is a step in the right direction towards the appreciation of the Plan preparation process by stakeholders.

Bringing his speech to an end Mr. Peprah entreated all present to fully participate in the session to ensure a smooth plan preparation process as according to him, the plan after its preparation will serve as a source of information for reference and guidance.

The Regional Planning Officer, Mr. Jake Ntiamoah, briefly went through the requirements for the formation of the Medium Term Plan preparation Team and briefed the meeting on their roles and responsibilities.

He further informed the meeting that sub Teams will be constituted when the need arises. Mr. Ntiamoah presented on the new guidelines for the preparation of the Medium Term Development Plan which bordered around the Overview of the new planning guidelines, Processes involved in preparing MediumTerm Development Plans, templates for data collection for the 2026-2029 Medium Term Plan preparation, Road Map for preparing 2026-2029 MTDP among others.

The Tano South Municipal Medium-Term Development Plan (2026-2029) preparation team was constituted with major key stakeholders, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Municipal Planning Officer, Assistant Development Planning Officers, Municipal Budget Officer, Municipal Statistical Officer, Physical Planning Officer, Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, Finance :Technical Officer, Department of Education Youth and Sports: Technical Officer, Department of Agriculture :Technical Officer and the Municipal Health Directorate :Technical Officer.

The Regional Planning Officer, Mr. Jake Ntiamoah duly inaugurated the Municipal Medium Term Plan preparation Team after its constitution and thanked the participants on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive for their contribution towards a fruitful exercise.

He entreated participants to commit themselves to ensure deadlines for submission of templates given are adhered to ensure we make progress towards meeting deadlines for approval.
