The delegation took part in the International Network Meeting for Municipal Partnerships between North Rhine-Westphalia and Ghana on September 28, 2026, followed by the West African–German Municipal Partnerships Networking Meeting, held from September 29 to 30 in Bonn.

The meetings brought together municipal partners to exchange experiences, review ongoing projects and initiatives, and explore opportunities for future collaboration focused on sustainable development.

As part of the Sister-City Partnership between the Keta Municipal Assembly and the City of Eschweiler, the two municipalities have been collaborating on climate change adaptation, resilience and sustainability.

Key areas of cooperation include coastal erosion management and flood control, renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and circular economy and sustainable waste management.

Under the partnership, Keta has proposed a €50,000 project for 2026 to procure and install a solar power system at the Keta Municipal Hospital.

The project is expected to supplement the national electricity grid and provide an alternative source of power to the facility, particularly during power interruptions.

According to the Assembly, the initiative will help improve the hospital's operational efficiency and energy security while strengthening its resilience to disruptions in electricity supply.

The ongoing engagements in Bonn are also expected to pave the way for the finalisation of the necessary documentation to facilitate the release of funds for the commencement of the solar project.

The meetings are therefore seen as an important step in deepening the Keta–Eschweiler partnership and translating the collaboration into practical projects that support climate resilience, sustainable development and improved public services in the Keta Municipality.
