Birim North District Assembly Cuts Sod for 24-Hour Economy Market Project at New Abirem

The Birim North District Assembly has officially cut the sod for the construction of the Government's flagship 24-Hour Economy Market at the New Abirem Lorry Park, marking a significant milestone in the district's drive to enhance local economic development and improve market infrastructure.

The ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul; the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Mark Addo; the Presiding Member of the Assembly; Heads of Departments; representatives of the Local Council of Churches; the Market Queen Mother; party executives; youth representatives; traditional authorities; the project consultant; and members of the public.

The event was chaired by Obrempong Kwesi Amoh Kyeretwie I, Abiremhene and Jasihene of the Kotoku Traditional Council, whose participation highlighted the importance of the project to the socio-economic development of the district.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul, described the 24-Hour Economy Market as a transformative initiative that aligns with the Government's vision of expanding economic opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable employment.

He stated that the market project would provide a modern trading environment for merchants, extend business hours, increase commercial activities, and stimulate economic growth within the district.

The DCE noted that the initiative is expected to generate sustainable employment opportunities, boost local businesses, improve household incomes, and strengthen the local economy through increased productivity and investment.

Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the project and called on residents, traders, and other stakeholders to support its implementation for the benefit of the entire district.

In his remarks, Obrempong Kwesi Amoh Kyeretwie I commended the Government and the Birim North District Assembly for initiating the project, describing it as a timely intervention that would transform New Abirem into a vibrant commercial hub. He expressed confidence that the market would create new opportunities for trade, attract investment, and contribute significantly to the district's economic prosperity.
