The new classroom block replaced the old structure whose roof got ripped off following a March 20 rainstorm that hit the Sagnarigu District in the Northern Region.

Mr Mohammed Sorogudoo, District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu who handed over the facility at its compound at Gbanyamni near Tamale on Tuesday, said it demonstrated governments commitment to improving education infrastructure across the country.

Mr Sorogudoo said the government attached importance to education and would continue to build more education infrastructure to improve enrolment.

He called on all stakeholders to do their best to improve the standard of education especially in the region.

Madam Cecilia Borechie Ewuntomah, Headmistress of Gbanyamni Methodist Primary School, said the new classroom block would enhance teaching and learning and appealed to the district assembly to renovate the old structure to serve as junior high school for the school.

She also thanked the district assembly for swiftly releasing the new structure to be used by the school.
