Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly disburse dual desks

Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly has handed over 873 metal dual desks to the Municipal Education Department for onward distribution to needy schools in the Municipality through funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund-Responsive Factor Grant (DACF-RFG).

The Municipal Chief Executive, M.A Yakubu did the presentation with support from the Coordinating Director and other key officers.

In his brief remarks, he stated that this gesture was in line with the Government's policy to reduce schools under trees and to reduce the furniture deficit that is affecting most schools across the country.

He said the Assembly was committed to doing more, and promised that by the end of the year; about one thousand (1,000) more desks will be supplied to the schools.

Receiving the furniture, the Municipal Director of Education who doubles as the Acting Regional Director of Education, Mr. Alhassan Alidu Jnr. expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly for its support to the education sector over the years.

He said the furniture deficit the municipality is facing currently stands at about 27,000 ranging from the kindergarten to the Junior High levels.

He assured the MCE that the Department will ensure that the furniture is distributed to the neediest schools and well maintained.
