Responding to issues of power outages and other related issues at the First Ordinary meeting of the First Section of the Fifth Assembly, Mr. Alex Dzaker explained that the problem of power supply of Mampong Municipal was intensive because the municipality power supply was rooted from Anwomaso through to Achiase to Fawode to Agona, then to Nusta before it gets to Mampong.

“But currently the voltage is better because a new sub-station has been situated in Mampong, hence our Power supply is taken straight from Agona without any interferences”.

He further stated that most outages arise from power overflow and faults in power cables, adding that since the wiring system does not go through the underground, these faults are prone to occur.

He elaborated that their wiring system has two folds, the single-phase and the three-phase system, so when there is a fault on the single-phase system all those who fall on the line will experience an outage, as compared to the three-phase where when one phase goes off, the other phases will have the power supply.

He also stated that the bills resulting from the power consumption in every household and that the bills vary depending on the level of unit consumption. According to him, the government’s intervention plan covers fully for those on the life-line whose consumption falls within 0 – 50 units and those above 50 units pay half of the bill.
