The aim was to ascertain progress of the cashew nursery to be distributed to farmers in the district for free. He disclosed that the target is 100,000 seedlings, but so far they are raising 10,000.

The three (3) sites visited by the DCE and his team were Koti, Asuokor and Duadaso. The first site of visit was Koti where the Office of MOFA through the Assembly has nursed one thousand, eight hundred and fifty cashew nuts and all germinated.

The team from there moved to Asuokor where the team also witnessed four thousand, four hundred and sixteen which were on course of germination.

The final site of visit by the DCE and his team was Duadaso Site were they also witnessed four thousand seedlings.

The DCE said the motive is to encourage the youth in the district to engage themselves in cashew farming and categorically stated that, the seedlings are to be distributed to the cashew farmers for free and any Agricultural Officer caught in selling even a seedling to any farmer will face the law.

He therefore tasked the District Information Office to go on radio and information centres across the district to create awareness on the availability of the free supply of the cashew seedlings to cashew farmers in the district.

According to the District Director of MoFA, Mr. Afful Emmanuel, the project comes from the Planting For Export And Rural Development and also urged all cashew farmers in the district to come for the seedlings for free as rightly said by the DCE.
