Hundreds of people turn out for Kintampo South maiden sanitation day

Hundreds of people came out to support the Kintampo South Assembly’s maiden clean-up exercise in the district capital, Jema on Friday, August 1, 2025 as part of the assembly’s sanitation and environment management efforts.

The clean-up exercise is geared towards improving public health, promoting environmental cleanliness and fostering community participation in maintaining a healthy environmental hygiene in the district.

The exercise brought together a diverse group of enthusiastic youth groups, chiefs and community leaders, drivers, various local associations within the district, assembly members, officers from the various security services and heads of departments and staff of the Kintampo South Assembly.

Addressing the crowd after the exercise, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Wilfred Zuure said he was overwhelmed with the turnout and thanked them for coming out in their numbers to support the exercise and added that he was confident that next clean-up scheduled for next will be greater and better. He also said, the next clean-up scheduled for next month, the task force will be visiting house to house to inspect so they should try and keep their surroundings clean to avoid falling victim.

Hon. Wilfred encouraged all residents to continue to support efforts by the assembly and take active role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He also edged the residents to practice the operation clean your frontage on daily basis. Hon. Wilfred said every first Friday of every month will be Kintampo South District Sanitation day.

The DCE said the Kintampo South District have 28 Electoral Areas and the next sanitation day will be organized in all the 28 electoral areas and the Assembly members, Unit Committee Members and chiefs will be in charge of the organization.

He concluded that bad sanitation could have effect on public heath, environment and may lead to spread of diseases and pollution of water that could affect human and other living things.
