Chirehin gets Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project

The Minister for Communication and Digitalization, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful accompanied by the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu Gyan, and the District Chief Executive for Kintampo South, Mr Poku Nyame has commissioned a Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project at Chirehin in the Kintampo South District.

The Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project has been built in seven other communities in the district.

The Telephony project is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) under the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) aimed at providing network service to communities without access to mobile networks.

The Minister in her address to the Chiefs and people of the community noted that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) had become so critical to everyday life that the government could not afford to deny any of its citizenry access to the network.

She stressed that the President Akufo Addo led government is committed to providing network infrastructure in communities without access to mobile networks.


She promised the Chief a modern ICT center with computers and Wi-Fi network to enable students in the community develop cutting-edge skills in ICT.


The Chief of Chirehin, Nana Owusu Gyan II commended the Minister for selecting his community as one of the beneficiaries of the Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project and thanked her for the promise of constructing a modern ICT centre in the community.
