Governance should be seen as a collective responsibility - DCE

A Town Hall meeting has been held for stakeholders to reflect on the theme “Strengthening Social Accountability Systems for Improved Service Delivery” at the Jema Presby Church in the Kintampo South District.

Speaking at the function as a guest speaker, the District Chief Executive , Mr Opoku Nyame, stressed on the role ordinary citizenry must play in the development of our communities; DCE again noted that governance should be seen as a collective responsibility executable by both duty-bearers and citizens.


The program supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Electoral Support Project seeks to strengthen social accountability systems for improving service delivery among MMDAs.

He appealed to Nananom and other relevant stakeholders to see the need of educating members of their communities on volunteering information and seeing government projects as belonging to the communities and not the ancient notation of government.


The program was in collaboration with Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) together with Nana Owusu Pinkra II, Kintampo Krontehene, Daniel Appiah, District Education Director and Nana Kwabena Aborampah Mensah, CDD Programs Manager.
