Two assembly members namely; Henry Nii Charty Marbell of Kotoku Electoral Area and Issaka Ibrahim from Medie Electoral Area could not secure the two-thirds majority required by the standing orders of the assembly after two attempts making way for the electoral commission in the municipality to open fresh nominations.

Solomon Asante of Mayera Electoral Area was the first on the ballot paper whiles Beatrice Agbalenyo of Dedeiman Electoral Area placed second on the ballot. The two members also failed in two attempts making way for an adjournment of the proceeding.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive Mr Clement Wilkinson says the back and forth emanating from the election was due to the fact that most of the members have been in the assembly for long and are all eyeing the position as a presiding member.

He was, however, hopeful that the last attempt will produce a PM to preside over the assembly for the growth of the municipality.
