GWMA ranked first in Accra, second in Ghana

The Ga West Municipal Assembly (GWMA) has been ranked second in the country in the 2020 Annual National Local Government Performance Contract Rankings of MMDAs which was released over the weekend on Saturday 24th July 2020.

The Ga West Municipal Assembly was also ranked first in the Greater Accra Region after excelling in delivering on outputs in the Key Performance Areas (KPAs) listed in schedule one and two of the Performance Contract Agreement between the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Metropolitan Municipal and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs).

The KPAs in the performance contract agreement spans across areas which include but not limited to, General Administration, Human Resources Management, Financial Management and Reporting, Infrastructure, Social Services, Economic Development, Environment and Sanitation and the MMDCDs Personal Development Plan.

This current ranking is a huge improvement from the 2018/19 performance which placed Ga West Municipal at 180th position in the country and 16th position in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking to the media, the MCE of GWMA Honorable Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson who was visibly happy about the news congratulated management, Assembly Members and the Staff of GWMA for their dedication and commitment to making the “Ga West Municipal the Gateway to Accra” and for the hard work they put into pushing the Assembly up its current position.

He also indicated that it was the intention of Management to improve upon this achievement by capturing the number one spot in the 2021 rankings.
