The engagement formed part of efforts by the Assembly to promote the welfare, protection and inclusion of vulnerable groups and ensure that they have access to essential social services and livelihood opportunities.
The meeting brought together representatives from relevant government institutions, civil society organisations, community leaders, health and education authorities, as well as other stakeholders working to improve the well-being of women, children and adolescents.
Discussions focused on the challenges confronting vulnerable women and adolescents, including poverty, teenage pregnancy, school dropout, child protection concerns, unemployment and limited access to social support services.
Participants also explored ways to improve collaboration among institutions and ensure that vulnerable individuals and households were identified and linked to appropriate social protection programmes.
The Assembly emphasised the importance of a coordinated approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, noting that effective social protection required the active participation of government agencies, communities, development partners and other stakeholders.
The engagement also highlighted the need to empower vulnerable women through skills development, livelihood support and access to economic opportunities to enable them to become self-reliant and improve the welfare of their families.
Stakeholders further called for increased awareness of child protection and adolescent-related issues, as well as stronger community-level mechanisms to identify and respond to cases of abuse, neglect and other forms of vulnerability.
The Assembly assured participants of its commitment to working with relevant institutions and development partners to strengthen social protection services and ensure that vulnerable women and adolescents in the Municipality received the necessary support.
