Assembly supports PWDs

The Sekyere Central District Assembly has presented items worth millions of Ghana Cedis to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the area to enable them start their own businesses.

Items presented include; laptops, mattresses, cosmetics, fufu pounding machines, toiletries, electrical sewing machines, bags of charcoal, provisions among others.

The Assembly, through the same initiatives had paid fees for about 13 PWDS at the tertiary level.

Handing over items to the beneficiaries, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr. Benjamin Kingsley Kodua, said the move forms part of efforts by the government and for that matter, the Assembly to alleviate the challenges of the physically challenged and make life bearable for them.

He emphasized that the gesture is evident of the Assembly’s support for PWDs in the area.

Mr. Kodua admonished the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the items presented in order to be economically self-sufficient and earn a decent living.
