Asokore Mampong holds Town Hall Meeting

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has revived the Town Hall Meeting concept to enhance popular participation in local governance by bringing good governance to the door-steps of the people.

The Town Hall Meeting is instituted affords the assembly an opportunity and platform to educate citizens on government programmes and projects that are being implemented to bring socio-economic relief to the people.


The meeting is aimed at to providing various stakeholders the chance to make meaningful contributions into issues of development as means of strengthening democracy and decentralization in the area.





In his keynote address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, reminded the people about the core mandate of the assembly which he said, is to improve quality of life of the people through the formulation and implementation of policies, programmes and projects resulting from transparent, accountable and effective mobilizations and utilization of available human, material and financial resources.






He said, the assembly, in pursuit of this vision, has taken a number of initiatives and programmes that will help raise standards of living quality of life of the citizenry, by initiating various projects being carried out by the assembly since January.


Mr Seidu, in his presentation to a cross-section of stakeholders gathered at the function provided highlights on some programmmes and projects by the Assembly which are geared towards sustaining development in the municipality.





He touched on some critical areas of the assembly which include revenue mobilization, financial accountability, education, health, infrastructure, sanitation and security.


The MCE reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing effective policies and initiatives centered on improving the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian citizenry.
