Asokore Mampong holds maiden Meet the Press series

The Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Alidu Seidu said it is the will of the president Nana Akufo Addo to deepen democratic governance in Ghana and as a key strategy practitioner at the local level, are obliged to promote citizen’s participation and be accountable to the public.

The MCE who was speaking at the Meet the Press series said the effort being made by the assembly in relation to the government flagship programs and projected implemented by the assembly since his assumption from 2017 to help promote the developmental agenda of the government.

EDUCATION
The implementation of the school feeding program has been improved with the number of schools benefiting from the program increased from 31 in January 2017 to 42 under the government’s expansion program.

The enrollment of these 42 schools has modestly increased from 9,227 in 2017 to 13,716 and also that every deprived school in the municipality would be captured under the program.

That notwithstanding the double-track system and also ease congestion in the public senior high schools in the municipality government has under ken some projects include; Kumasi Academy construction of no1 6- unit classroom block with ancillary facilities, construction of no 1 12 unit classroom block with ancillary facilities, construction of 1 no 10 seater W/C toilet. Prakoso senior high school, contraction of 1 no 6 – unit classroom block, construction of dormitory block, construction of no1 6- unit classroom block with ancillary facilities among others.



AGRICULTURE
Since the introduction of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), a total of 549 farmers have been supported with a total of 477gks of maize, 1.6kg of pepper, 1.6kgof cabbage and 300grams of onion among others this is to help boost productivity in the Asokore Mampong municipality.

In an effort to fulfill the manifesto promise of supporting each constituency with US 1 million dollar, the government came out with the infrastructure for poverty eradication program and among prioritize project by the municipality that are being implemented included; construction of no 1 Mechanized borehole at Sepe Afoagya, construction of no 1 Mechanized borehole at Aboabo 1, construction of 1 no. 10 seater institutional toilet with mechanized borehole at Parkoso SHS, construction of 3no. 10 saeter w/c public toilet with mechanized borehole at Asawase all these were done to improve sanitation and promote good health he said.

According to the Mr. Alidu, the impact of graduate and youth unemployment, the government launched the nation builders corps program in May 2018, 774 youths are currently recruited in the municipality of the various sectors such as Civic Ghana, Educate Ghana among others.



Additionally, the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) currently 896 households comprising of elderly, vulnerable household and children are benefiting from the program since 2017 over 4,528 vulnerable persons have benefited from the program and a total of GH 991,026 has disbursed to these beneficiaries.

The program was attended by chiefs, religious bodies, market women, media and other identifiable groups within the Asokore Mampong Municipality
