The hardworking chief executive made this known after touring cashew nursery sites at Afrancho, Darso, Nkenkaasu, Akumadan, Nfante among other places in the district to acquaint himself with first-hand information on the field.

Mr. David Kwasi Asare nursed 600,000 in 30 communities in 2018 topping the district league in terms of tree crop cultivation to achieving the planting for export and rural development drive.

This year, the number is being scaled up to 1,000,000 seedlings of cashew to be distributed free of charge to over 100,000 farmers in 35 selected communities in the district.

According to him, the President Akuffo Addo led government’s major initiatives such as Planting for Export and Rural Development Programme (PERD); one district, one factory (1D1F) will only succeed if conscious efforts are made by MMDAs towards creating sustainable raw materials for local industries; and he pledged his full support for the initiative.

He said cashew production is the surest way to diversify traditional sources of income for local farmers, adding that it will accelerate President's Ghana beyond aid agenda.

Mr. Asare is appealing to farmers to take advantage of the initiative to achieve income sustainability for families.

The cashew chief executive thanked the zonal coordinators for the nurseries for their dedication to work.
