Abuakwa North improves IGF mobilization

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Abuakwa North Municipality, Mr Owusu Twum Ampofo has commended the Assembly’s revenue mobilization team for rolling out numerous interventions to promote revenue generation in the area.

Speaking at the Assembly’s First Ordinary Meeting yesterday, the MCE revealed that the Assembly had as at December 2018 mobilized an amount of GHs 538, 359.16 representing 94% of the projected annual revenue of GHs 575,392.00.

According to him, this achievement is very significant considering the fact that actual revenue collection for 2018 began in mid-April.

He however, urged the team not to be complacent but rather put in their maximum best to achieve beyond the target for 2019.


He stressed that, management has implemented a number of innovative programmes for revenue mobilization. The programmes, he added include, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustained Taskforce Operation and Decentralization of the building Inspectorate Unit to achieve and generate more funds.

He added that, the assembly is also launching other important interventions such as updating the revenue register taking advantage of the upcoming digitize property addressing exercise, Evaluation of landed properties at Anyinasin, Kukurantumi, Osiem and Ettukrom, introduction of SMS alert system for selected rate payer and automation billing system along the lines of utility bill to help improve revenue.

The remaining interventions to be rolled out also include, Trade groupings and registration at the electoral area level, Setting and monitoring revenue collection target as well as motivating deserving collectors and sanctions lazy ones and mounting of revenue barrier at vantage points.
