Abuakwa North Assembly elect PM

Mr Emmanuel Asare Gyekye has been re-elected to occupy the seat for the second term as the Presiding Member of the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region.

In a popular acclamation election supervised by the Abuakwa North Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, Mr Derick Ankomah Boateng, Hon Emmanuel Asare Gyekye bagged all the twenty-five "Yes" votes hence his swearing-in into office by the New Tafo Court Magistrate.

Mr Asare Gyekye in his acceptance speech, he thanked the Almighty God for a violent free elections and all who voted for him into office and pledged that, he will justify the confidence reposed in him by the Assembly with hard work.

He indicated that the result from the election demonstrates the unity of all the members in the Assembly which he describes as a critical arena for socio-economic development of the Municipality to improve the lives of the people they represent.

The re-elected Presiding Member acknowledged challenges in all the sectors in the Municipality and admonished all members to join hands in the solution process and also help boost internally generated funds since the Assembly can not only survive on the Governmental funds.

He called on all for their continued support as he begins his second term in office for progressive development.

He further commended the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, for his hard work and dedication to duty which has brought a facelift to the Municipality.

Mr John Ankrah, Municipal Coordinating Director, coordinated the process.

Also present at the occasion were, Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV, Akyem Tafohene and entourage, Mrs Ruth Woode, Rtd Coordinating Director, Departmental Heads, Assembly Members, Heads of Security Services, and press.
