N JUABEN S: Agric Directorate receive 14 motorbikes
The Agriculture Directorate of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission under the MAG (Modernized Agriculture in Ghana) has officially handed over fourteen (14) motorbikes to the Agric Extension Officers in the Municipality.

The Technical Consultant of MAG, Madam Lueci Mary expressed pleasure over this enthusiastic moment. She said that, the Ministry of Agriculture recently held a training programme which she monitored and realized that Agric Extension Officers will need means of transportation to farming sites to help improve productivity in the agric sector
She added that beneficiaries should make good use of this to help improve capacity building, better pricing and also add value by reaching farmers to educate and advise them in their day to day activities.
She wished all beneficiaries well and hoped that these investments go a long way to multiply effort to increase income to yield great results to help take agriculture in Ghana to the next level.
The MCE, Isaac Appaw Gyasi on his remarks stated that, the government of Ghana recognizes the role of agriculture in the country and has interest in the transformation of agriculture to facilitate inputs and production.
He also said that, the government has introduced several intervention policies such as planting for food and jobs, planting for export and rural development, one district one factory and many more to curb unemployment and also increase government’s income.
It has also recruited and allocated over two thousand (2000) extension officers and one Pick-up truck to all MMDAs to equip staff for effective delivery through the Canadian support programme called Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG). In addition, he said the department is building the staff capacity of the new extension modules under the Technical Education Development of Modernized Agric in Ghana (TEDMAG).
He advised that, beneficiaries should know how to ride to avoid accident, process DVLA license to ride, no drinking and riding, avoid misuse of the motor bike and lastly it should be used for its intended purpose.
Mr. Kofi A. Tweneboah; the Agric director of the New Juaben South Municipal Agric Directorate concluded by cautioning beneficiaries on cases of fault or maintenance, the directorate has a central shop for maintenance and that beneficiaries will pay for the cost of repair of bikes if bikes are not sent to the directorate’s approved maintenance shop.
Miss Sarah Obeng, one of the beneficiaries shared her gratitude saying that, she is very thankful and promise to manage and use this machinery for its intended purpose. She added that this machinery will serve as a means of transport to places where cars or trucks can’t reach.
Mr. Emmanuel Aikins also said that, he is happy of being part of a great occasion like this and for that reason he’s going to make sure that the use of this motor bike will result positively in the agric sector. In addition, he said that, this investment will go a long way to save the directorate from transportation cost.
