Akrofuom inaugurates census implementation committee
The Akrofuom District Census Implementation Committee (DCIC) has been inaugurated at a short ceremony at Akrofuom, the district capital.

The committee members are expected to ensure that the Population and Housing Census which is to be conducted later in the year goes on successful in the district.
The committee among other things is expected to assist in publicity education; facilitate the recruitment of field personnel; assist in the acquisition of secure storage facilities for census materials and a host of others.
Addressing the members, a Director of Administration at the Ghana Statistical Service, Mr Kwadwo Asante commended the members for their appointment to the committee and urged them to work hard to ensure the successful exercise in the district.
He revealed that the exercise will start on the eve of 28th June which has been declared as the census night. However, several activities will take place prior to the commencement of the exercise and the committee will have to spearhead the process in the district.
He urged the general public to fully participate to make it a success by avoiding being double-counted.
In a speech read on his behalf, by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, the District Chief Executive Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode, reminded members of the importance of population and housing census in development planning and monitoring of policies and programmes.
He said he was optimistic that the census will afford the district an opportunity to plan and successfully implement the 2020 PHC which will also translate into the planning of the District Assembly development plan as well as its policy-making.
He also charged the committee members to be diligent and work hard to ensure that the right results are achieved. He also appealed to opinion leaders and Nananom in the district to assist the committee to perform their duties effectively.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr Stephen Asante who is the chairman of the DCIC assured the gathering that together with his team, they will perform their roles will for a successful exercise.
The committee members are Mr Stephen Asante (District coordinating Director), Ms Margaret-Mary Anokyewaa (District Census Officer), Mr Ebenezer Ntiamoah (District Planning Development Officer) and Mr George Adu-Abrokwah (District Director of Education)
The rest are Mr Ali Kassim (NCCE Officer), Ms. Sussanna Nkrumah (Ghana Health Service) and Mr. Francis Andoh (District Information Officer).
