Free SHS: Children urged to take academic work seriously

Mr Daniel Kwame Gariba, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Builsa South has admonished children to take their academic work seriously in order to benefit from the government's ' Free SHS’ policy and become relevant in the society.

The DCE, who was speaking at the Assembly's ordinary meeting this week, said education remains the bedrock of developing countries for the sustainability of economic development and human capital.


The DCE in his keynote address hailed President Akufo-Addo for fufilling his ‘Free SHS’ flagship initiative much to the surprise of some Ghanaians who expressed doubt about its feasibility.


He revaeled that five hundered and fifty-five (555) and two hundred and fifty-one (251) first years students of Fumbisi SHS and Kanjarga SHS respectively were currently benefiting from the programme.


He added that, the Ministry of Education has also approved a proposal for the inclusion of the Kanjarga SHS to be hook onto the government's one hot meal a day policy.


The ‘Free SHS’ flagship was introduced by the NPP government to help increase school enrollment and reduce dropout rate.
