Mr Gariba said early childhood education is important for the development of the child and it was based on this measure that government made it compulsory for every school going child to be in school.

He said government would not hesitate to punish people including parents who would not place value on the education of their children.

Mr Gariba made this known over the weekend when he commissioned and handed over a three “unit classroom block to four communities including Luisa, Fiisa, Gobsa and Vundem valued at GHs 192, 6218.00 from the District Assembly Common Fund in the Kanjarga sub-area of the district in the Upper East Region.

Mr Gariba said it is important for parents and guardians to see the need in allowing their children to access formal education at the tender age to build good foundations.

He said the new bye-law by the Assembly would frown on parents who would deny their children education and engage them in cattle rearing and other businesses.

Mr Gariba said education is the bedrock for national development and a community that was not privileged to have an educated populace was at a disadvantage, because the people living in it would not be able to control diseases, natural and artificial disasters among others.

Kanbo-Nab Agalisi Adiok, Sub-Chief of the area, commended government for its timely intervention and said the community was prepared to support the Assembly implement the bye law.

The DCE later visited the Fumbisi Senior High Agriculture School to have firsthand information on admission of students on the double track system.

He also inspected a three bedroom apartment valued at GHC 268,532.50 for the District Coordinating Director and handed it over to the assembly for use.
