Assembly to disburse PWD funds

The Abuakwa North Municipality, has for the first time since its creation received an amount of Fifty Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty-Three Ghana Cedis and Fourteen Pesewas (GHs 58, 463.14) for Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the area.

The fund is expected to be equitably disbursed to PWDs who have applied for support in diverse areas.

Disclosing this at the Assembly’s First Ordinary Meeting yesterday, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr Owusu Twum Ampofo, noted that the money shall be invested in viable ventures that have the potential of giving them high returns whiles providing employment for them.

He explained that, per the new directive, the assembly is not expected to dole out the money to PWDs but rather assist them invest the money in viable ventures.

He urged the Funds Management Committee to fast-track the process of short listing and ensure the disbursement of the funds while also admonishing agitating PWDs to exercise patience since the assembly is going through all due processes to disburse the funds.

“My information is that some of our PWDs have started agitating with some even reporting the Assembly to the DACF secretariat for no reason, I urge the PWDs to exercise restraint and be a bit patient for due process to continue in the disbursement of the fund”, the MCE stated.
