BANDA: NCCE to organize parliamentary debates in all constituencies

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is to organize parliamentary debates in all two hundred and seventy-five constituencies nationwide as part of its activities towards the December 7th polls.

This was disclosed by the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Samuel Akuamoah Boateng at Banda Ahenkro during the inauguration of District Inter Party Dialogue Committees for the Banda District at Banda Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr. Akuamoah Boateng said the debates will enable electorates in the various constituencies get to know how the candidates will seek to champion the course to improve upon their living conditions when voted into power.

He however cautioned that in constituencies where the Commission thinks the organization of the debates will bring about tension, the venue will be moved to a neutral ground to ensure peace.

Inaugurating the Inter Party Dialogue Committee, Mr. Akuamoah Boateng charged them to work towards peaceful elections. He said dialogue is the best way to resolving disagreements and urged Ghanaians to resort to dialogue always instead of violence which will disturb the peace of the country.

He further stated that ensuring sustaining the peace of the country before, during and after the elections was a shared responsibility and appealed to Ghanaian to work towards peaceful polls.

The District Inter Party Dialogue Committees are vehicles in the various Districts and constituencies formed by the National Commission for Civic Education to promote dialogue in election related issues in the Districts.

The Committee draws its membership from Political Parties, religious bodies and representatives of the District Assembly.
